Minor Label Stains
Overview
Domaine de la RomanĂ©e-Conti Richebourg is one of Burgundyâs most prestigious Grand Cru wines, produced from Pinot Noir in Vosne-RomanĂ©e. Combining the silkiness associated with neighbouring RomanĂ©e-Conti with the power and firmness of La TĂąche, Richebourg is renowned for its depth, structure and extraordinary ageing capacity.
Vintage
The 2006 growing season was marked by extremes, with intense July heat followed by a cool and wet August. Warm, dry conditions from the beginning of September transformed the vintage, accelerating ripening and allowing the Domaine to harvest fully mature fruit. Rigorous vineyard management and exceptionally careful sorting were essential to the final quality.
Vineyard
The Domaineâs Richebourg holdings cover 3.5110 hectares in Vosne-RomanĂ©e. This Grand Cru vineyard sits alongside some of the CĂŽte de Nuitsâ most celebrated sites and produces a particularly powerful yet refined expression of Pinot Noir.
Viticulture & Harvest
Richebourg was harvested on 20 and 21 September 2006. Yields across the Domaineâs red wines did not exceed 28 hl/ha. Strict selection was undertaken both in the vineyard and on the sorting table to remove any fruit affected by rot and retain only fully mature grapes.
Winemaking
Fermentations began rapidly and spontaneously, with vinification proceeding without difficulty. The average period of cuvaison across the Domaineâs 2006 red wines was approximately 18 days. The wine was subsequently matured in French oak.
