2009 Lake's Folly Cabernets 750ml

Lake's Folly Cabernets is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Shiraz crafted from low-yield, estate-grown, hand-picked grapes. The fruit undergoes open fermentation, resulting in softer, subtler tannins, followed by six months in large old casks for settling. It is then aged in small French oak barriques (new and one- to two-year-old) for about a year before bottling. This wine has excellent long-term cellaring potential of up to 20 years, depending on the vintage.

The blend varies according to vintage. Some releases have been 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with others a more traditional Bordeaux blend. Please contact your merchant for more information.

Producer tasting notes: (2009 vintage) "Colour – Dark red with a purple hue. Nose – Vibrant lifted cherry and dark chocolate aromas with hints of toasted oak. Palate – The palate has lovely clean, sweet fruit flavours of cherry, blackcurrant and white pepper. Soft tannins and a wonderful acid balance complement what must be one of the best Cabernets made here in the past decade.
