Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz 2022
Described by wine critic Ray Jordan as “pepper and spice and all things nice in wine,” this vintage reflects a warm, extended ripening season that produced a vibrant, spicy Shiraz. Aromas of rose, mulberry, raspberry, and currant lead into a medium-bodied palate of black fruits, buoyant acidity, and fine tannins. The finish is long and mineral, with notes of coffee, cocoa, and cardamom.
Fermented with 20% whole bunches for vibrancy, the wine matured in French oak (new to two-year-old) for 18 months. As part of Leeuwin’s iconic “Art Series,” the 2022 label features Nuguwarrding by contemporary artist Tommy Carroll.

Critic Reviews:
96 points - "Shiraz dominant, there is a dollop of both Viognier and Malbec (3% of each), in this stunning Margaret River Shiraz. 20% whole bunch and a total of eighteen months maturation in various formats of French oak. Deep magenta hue. Quite the savoury style, we have notes of licorice, animal skins, dry herbs, blackcurrants, cloves and a hint of graphite. Beautifully structured, this is seamless and seductive. There is a line of fine acidity, all leading to quite a complex style. Such exemplary balance here with excellent length. Enjoy over the next ten to fifteen years. A superb Margaret River Shiraz. The best in the region?" - Ken Gargett, (WinePilot.com)
95 points - "The 2022 Art Series Shiraz is excellent. It is lush and persistent, with a sapid mid-palate and layers of spice and textural complexity. Very good. It remains bloody and mineral, characterized by savory tannins, pink peppercorns, nori, gravel and dried herbs, with pomegranate molasses, redcurrant and a hint of goji berry to boot. The tannins and the fruit are as one: the wine isn't encased by tannin, as so many are, rather, it IS tannin, in that the tannin exudes from its very core, like rays of sunshine. Good! Sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)
