Overview
A sophisticated Southern Rhône-inspired white blend fermented and matured exclusively in large ceramic eggs. Combining Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne, Ovitelli Blanc balances fragrant orchard and citrus fruit with layered phenolic texture, mineral tension and savoury complexity.
Yangarra Estate specialises in southern Rhône varieties grown across its biodynamic McLaren Vale vineyard, where altitude, ancient geology, ironstone-rich sandy soils and maritime influence contribute freshness and distinctive site expression.
Blend
The 2024 blend comprises 31% Grenache Gris, 28% Grenache Blanc, 22% Clairette and 19% Roussanne.
Vintage
A normally wet winter was followed by a dry spring. Unexpected rainfall during December and January encouraged larger bunches and berry development, while warm conditions through February and early March promoted flavour ripeness and concentration.
Winemaking
Each variety was hand-picked and sorted separately. Roussanne was harvested on 12 March, Grenache Blanc on 22 March, and Grenache Gris and Clairette on 4 April. Selected fruit was destemmed and crushed into ceramic eggs for extended skin contact averaging four months.
The batches were basket pressed, with only the lightest pressings kept separately for consideration in the final blend. The unfined and unsettled juice was fermented exclusively in ceramic vessels. No sulphur was added until fermentation was complete or the extended skin-contact portions had been removed from their skins.
Skin-contact wine accounted for 48% of the final blend. After blending, the wine received a further four months of maturation in ceramic eggs.

96+ Points — Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

A little whiff of measured reduction gives an appealing slatey, matchstick note floating like smoke over the golden apple, citron, pineapple quince and Meyer lemon fruit… the textural tension, the layers of phenolic detail and the subtly integrated baking spices take away any notion of this being in any way simple. Rather it is calmly, coolly complex.
95 Points — Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The wine here is perfumed and floral, with mineral/rock-based phenolics that shape the flavors across the palate… A tremendous wine, it is elegant and sophisticated, and the experience is predicated on skin/fruit tannin.

Floral, textural and very expressive, showing aromas of orchard fruit, citrus blossoms, talcum powder and melon. The midweight palate has a fine line of acidity and phenolic grip that adds another dimension—an excellent balance of freshness, tension and power. Lots of aging potential yet with early-drinking appeal.

This is a juicy and slippery wine but its fine stony grip keeps it all in check. No shortage of flavour this vintage, offering pear, apple, some more tropical fruit, dried herbs, a spiced preserved lemon tang, balanced acidity with a waxy feel on a finish of excellent length.
